What is saving ? And what does it for ?

I am a University student
The course i study cost me 40k++
First bill already paid 4.9k
left 35k++
And as May 24 i wan to get in university
so i would like to have my own laptop
At first my target 5k++
Then a week before i told my parent about this
Then they respon is no
They said the cost is too high
Then ok i downgrade to 3k++
but that one is a 15.6'' laptop
Then my father said no need to bring such a laptop
i down grade again 2.8k no ++
but what my mom told me is 3.5k
laptop and mobile phone
At first i think i buy the 5k laptop
then i dont wan to buy a new mobile phone
But after i downgrade and downgrade
what i cant downgrade is my phone
i already pursue this dream phone for 7 months
every time i pass through a hand phone shop
i ask the price

A price that i hope to get the phone

after 1.5k my laptop will be damn stupid

From Core i-7 15.6"screen bluray combo drive 1GB DDR3 graphic VRAM laptop
down grade to
Core i-5 14"screen DVD Super Multi DL drive 512MD DDR3 graphic VRAM laptop
i dont wan to down grade again
because pentium dual core is really too slow for me
Centrino core 2 duo slow
Core i-3 ok
Core i-5 good enough
Core i-7 fast
But all of this i had never tell
how much is my saving

i have 21k in my saving account
i just wan 4.5k to buy thing and this thing can be use for few years
but my mother say 3.5k

because if you cant get a laon then you can use your saving

what i have pursue for 7 months
then when i think i can get it
It just become a dream again
7 months (i didnt work fully 7 months )i work because of this !!!!!!!!

in seven months
i work part time job
work for my father
finally i get what
700 for my hand phone ?
good enough for the full size qwerty keyboard ?
or the touch screen ?
and actually is 6k from the 21k
is my salary after this few months of working
i use 4.5k of this 6k
i will still have 1.5k to save in the account
which mean i still left 16.5k
my father say next time you got money you will spend all
spend all???? no saving so what is the 1.5k ?
75% of my few month hard working salary ???????????
i spend all and no save any money ?
am i too stupid ?
or my father too clever ?
that he can even cal that i save 1.5k ?
but he is a business man !

or what my father scare is i cant earn any money

i can work
so it will be ++ after few year didnt use
so what is saving ????
for emergency ?
for future ?
then if use a portion of it ?
for dream ?
then what should be consider as dream ?
And what really a saving does ?
